Costs vary depending on the scope of work. Simple modifications like grab bar installation may cost a few hundred dollars, while larger projects like stairlift installation or a walk-in shower conversion typically range from $3,500 to $18,000 or more. Every project begins with a Home Safety Assessment conducted by a CAPS-certified specialist, followed by a written proposal with transparent pricing and no hidden fees.

What is the Home Safety Assessment and how much does it cost?

The Home Safety Assessment is a clinical-style audit of the home conducted by a CAPS-certified specialist. It includes a room-by-room walkthrough, observation of how the homeowner moves through the space, and a written Home Safety Prescription that the homeowner keeps regardless of whether work proceeds. The flat fee is $329, and it is often waived for homeowners referred by existing clients or local healthcare partners.

Is Ace Access Homes licensed and insured?

Yes. Ace Access Homes is fully licensed and insured in California under License #1087045. Our team is trained to work safely in occupied homes and holds the CAPS (Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist) credential from the NAHB.

Do you accept VA benefits for home modifications?

Yes. We work with veterans and their families on home accessibility projects funded through VA HISA (Home Improvements and Structural Alterations), SHA (Special Home Adaptation), and SAH (Specially Adapted Housing) grants. We help navigate the VA paperwork process and coordinate directly with your VA doctor and local Prosthetic & Sensory Aids Service (PSAS) office.

Do you work with occupational therapists, physical therapists, and hospital discharge planners?

Yes. We partner with OTs, PTs, hospital discharge planners, and case managers to support patient transitions home. We do not pay referral fees — consistent with clinical ethics codes and federal anti-kickback statutes. Patients referred by clinical partners receive a waived Home Safety Assessment fee. Dear Neighbor,

I started Ace Access Homes because of the question families ask after a fall or a frightening diagnosis: what has to change about this house so that she can stay in it? Two industries each hold half of the answer.

The medical equipment industry brings hardware: safe, but it looks like a hospital, and nobody there holds a license to change the house itself. General contractors build to code, not to a person, so the toilet that passes inspection is the one your mother cannot stand up from. In between sits the family, carrying a therapist's instructions to a builder who has never read a discharge plan.

Ace Access Homes exists to take that job off the family. I am a Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist, trained in how aging changes movement, reach, and balance. Ace Access Homes is a licensed and insured California contractor, CSLB #1087045. The clinical reasoning and the construction live in the same firm, so what should be built and how it gets built are decided together, by people who answer directly to you.

That pairing is rare, and you do not have to take my word for it. Ask any company you are considering two questions: who holds the contractor's license, and who holds the aging-in-place certification. Most can answer one. Ace Access Homes was built to answer both.
